Magdalena, Laguna – The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) thru its Negosyo Center (NC) and the local government unit (LGU) of Magdalena conducted seminars and orientation for the selected beneficiaries as part of its program of Livelihood Seeding Program – Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (LSP-NSB) held at the Covered Court, Brgy. Bungkol, Magdalena, Laguna 25 June 2021.
The program aims to inform and educate the LGU, barangay officials and the selected beneficiaries of LSP-NSB on why we are conducting this program as well as to educate them by providing three different kind of lectures which focuses on starting-up a business, DTI services and their consumer rights.
The program was graced by Honorable Vice-Mayor Peter Bucal. He welcomed the DTI staff to their municipality. He highlighted the importance of having their own business and its contribution to the community especially to the LGU which also aims to strengthen their local businesses. He then mentioned that it is an honor for them to receive this service from DTI-Laguna.
As the program continuous, Christian Ted O. Tungohan of DTI-Laguna introduced the LSP-NSB program of DTI which aims to give aid to up to six business owners per barangay that is highly affected by the COVID-19 and was forced to stop their operations during the pandemic. He highlighted the basic services of DTI most specifically the Consumer Protection Division (CPD). Ivylou M. Flores of DTI-Laguna discussed the Business Development Division’s (BDD) services.
On the other hand, Nikhaela Valenciano, NCBC of DTI-Laguna discussed the consumer rights which help the participants to be more educated on their role as a consumer. Immediately it was followed by a lecture on How to Start a Business and Business Planning which was discussed by Banjo Ventolero, Senior Business Counselor of DTI-Laguna. He then mentioned some key notes on starting a business as well as the proper registration of business. The NCBC highlighted the importance of having a business and help the participants to think of having their own business in the future.
To wrap up the event the NCBCs and other staff of DTI-Laguna guided each participant on filling-up their simplified action plan. The program concluded with the awarding of information materials to be distributed by the barangay officials in their respective barangays. ♦
