After two years of the COVID-19 lockdowns, the first return of the physical conduct of Diskwento Caravan was accomplished on 11 April 2022, in Sampaloc, Quezon with DTI store partners. Amidst the rain and shine weather coinciding with the restored Bulihan Festival event, it was a remarkably happy day for consumers in the community.
Cloudy with rain showers during this day, consumers were indeed very happy to drop by, buy and prospect to buy (for transport/mobility needs). The “Sampalukins” made the cool summer day a shower of blessings for their diskwento buys to the organizers—the DTI Quezon Consumer Welfare and Protection Team, LGU-Sampaloc, and store partners. A total combined cash and negotiated sales of P1,895,545.95 were generated by this project.
DTI Quezon led by Provincial Director Julieta L. Tadiosa extended its appreciation for the warm support of Mayor Noel Angelo T. Devanadera of LGU-Sampaloc, the store partners-Metro Lucena, Toyota Phils. and Venture Motorcycles Sales Corp. for reaching out to the community through “diskwento” purchases of consumers in Sampaloc, Quezon.
Behind this successful event for the return of the physical Diskwento Caravan was the Consumer Protection Division Team led by Lani O. Constantino (OIC-Division Chief) and the energetic and dedicated support of DTI staff Philip Leee Oliveros, Ruel Gabiola, CPD Support Staff Gerard Miguel Zoleta, CPD Support Staff Ryan Carlo Aquino, and Negosyo Center Sampaloc Business Counselor Rowena Magtibay, who provided the inspiring and great back-up support in the mobilization of the team with the local government unit (LGU) officials of Sampaloc.♦
