PADRE BURGOS, QUEZON — On February 13, 2023, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Padre Burgos held its opening for the annual celebration of the Laguimanoc Festival. The said municipality invited the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Quezon to join in the ribbon cutting of the Agri-Tourism Exposition, which showcases the local products of Padre Burgos.
The Laguimanoc Festival, also known as Burgos Day, is a celebration that happens annually on February 17. Laguimanoc was the former name of the municipality before it was renamed Padre Burgos. Usually, it is a five-day celebration, and different activities were presented throughout, such as Karera ng Bangka, Miss Gay, Binibining Padre Burgos, Karera ng Kabayo, a dance contest, etc. Moreover, on the first day of the celebration, Padre Burgos came up with the idea of having an Agri-Tourism Exposition that shows the products of Padre Burgos. The DTI Quezon shows its support by having Trade Promotion Officer Honeylee Eclavea attend the ribbon cutting of the said exposition. After the ribbon cutting, Ms. Eclavea, together with the Business Counselor Meranel Ann Rustia of Negosyo Center Padre Burgos, gave an overview of the different programs of DTI, emphasizing the One Town, One Product (OTOP) program, for which most of the products have the potential to be part of it, like the puto bao and others. Furthermore, most of the products that have been displayed came from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that have been assisted by the programs of the DTI, such as Yakap at Halik, Laguimanoc Kawayan Association, and Kinagunan Ibaba Women Association.
Afterward, LGU Padre Burgos, led by Mayor Ruben Uy Diokno, together with Vice Mayor Edonna Amith and the Municipal Counselors of Sangguniang Bayan, gave thanks to the DTI for extending their support in the event, especially for the Agri-Tourism Exposition. Both parties are looking forward to more activities that they will share in the future. ♦
