MAKATI CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 4A formally launched the 10th Kalakal CALABARZON Regional Trade Fair on June 9, 2023, at Palm Drive Activity Center, Glorietta 2, Ayala Center, Makati City.

With the theme “Gawa at Galing ng CALABARZON”, Kalakal CALABARZON promotes at least 50 products and services of DTI-assisted CALABARZON MSMEs. This is also in line with the celebration of country’s 125th Independence Day.

During the opening ceremony held on the first day of the trade fair, a recorded inspirational message from DTI Regional Operations Group (ROG) Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona stated that this is not only a marketing and promotion event but also a value-added platform for our MSMEs to create better and innovative products out of natural resources. She also mentioned that the agency upholds its mission to help MSMEs bounce back from the pandemic.

DTI ROG Assistant Secretary Leonila Baluyot, in addition to this, personally congratulated in advance the 54 strong MSMEs who showed motivation and eagerness to achieve sustainability not only in terms of cash sales but also in terms of linkage and partnership with institutional buyers.

Furthermore, DTI 4A OIC Regional Director Marissa Argente expressed her appreciation to everyone who participated on the event, most specially to the MSMEs who participated as exhibitors in the event. She reassured the MSMEs that DTI will continue to assist them in finding opportunities in expanding their market as they reinforce the agency’s drive to promote and support local.

One of the highlights of the event is the search for Most Innovative Product for the Food and Nonfood categories to be judged by Design Center of the Philippines and Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines. The criteria for judging were explained by DTI 4A Assistant Regional Director Revelyn Cortez.

Also present in the opening ceremony were DTI Laguna OIC Provincial Director Christian Ted Tungohan, DTI Batangas Provincial Director Leila Cabreros, DTI Rizal OIC Provincial Director Cleotilde Duran, and DTI Quezon Provincial Director Julieta Tadiosa.

Kalakal CALABARZON run from June 9 to 13, 2023. In-between dates of conduct, DTI 4A and its provincial offices took turn in manning the event from secretariat to registration and assistance to walk-in clients to warehousing. More than Php5,000,000.00 sales were generated from the event and the following MSMEs were hailed the most innovative for the food and nonfood categories:

  • PHILIA Variety Store’s Coco Nectar Cacao Nibs – 1st Place, Most Innovative Product (Food Category)
  • Rutchil Food Products’ Lambanog Dark Chocolate – 2nd Place, Most Innovative Product (Food Category)
  • Tablea Batirol’s Teakolate – 3rd Place, Most Innovative Product (Food Category)
  • Caddat Leather Crafts’ Vegan Handcrafted Leather – 1st Place, Most Innovative Product (Non-Food Category)
  • Likhang Maragondon’s Altala – 2nd Place, Most Innovative Product (Non-Food Category)
  • Creativly Studio’s Doodle Clock – 3rd Place, Most Innovative Product (Non-Food Category Category)
