MAUBAN, QUEZON — Through the collaborative efforts of Quezon Power (Philippines), Limited Co. (QPL) Community Development Director, Mr. Bernardo Valencia, Mauban San Lorenzo Consumers Cooperative (MSLCC), Business Manager, Jona Visco, and DTI Quezon Provincial Director, Julieta L. Tadiosa, accompanied by Business Development Division Chief, Anna Marie V. Quincina, Trade Industry Development Specialist & Trade Promotion Officer, Honeylee Eclavea, and Negosyo Center Mauban, Business Counselor, Nicole P. Lleva, paid a visit to the cooperative. The objective of the visit was to conduct a thorough assessment of the cooperative’s actual requirements and identify possible interventions that DTI can provide to assist the cooperative.
The MSLCC has been a recipient of consistent support from QPL since its foundation in 2017, when it was formerly known as the Bukluran Magsasaka ng Mauban Demo Farm. On January 8, 2018, it was officially established as a cooperative and has continued to be a vital source of livelihood for its members. The cooperative is engaged in beekeeping activities on their farm to produce high-quality honey that is also utilized as an ingredient in soap manufacturing.
After conducting a thorough evaluation and productive discussions between the QPL, MSLCC, and DTI teams, a comprehensive proposal is set to be formulated by the DTI. This proposal will encompass a range of improvements, such as upgrading the facility’s layout to meet FDA regulations, providing assistance with packaging and labeling of their existing products, conducting training programs for the cooperative members, and providing opportunities for benchmarking to further enhance their operations.♦
