SARIAYA, QUEZON — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Quezon’s Senior Trade-Industry Development Specialist Ma. Graciela Ledesma and Negosyo Center–Sariaya Business Counselor Shayne B. Nocus conducted an orientation for the Grade 7 and 8 students of Pili National High School on June 5, 2023. This initiative received the support and endorsement of their esteemed Principal Ms. Maribel Alcantara and Technology and Livelihood Education Teacher 2 Ms. Katherine Joy Maaliw. The purpose of this orientation was to provide a comprehensive overview of their recent tour of the Buntal Processing Center, which took place on May 19, 2023.
During the orientation, Ms. Ledesma expounded on the background of the Buntal Processing Center and elucidated its potential as a thriving enterprise. Additionally, she sought to inspire the students by showcasing an audio-visual presentation of the Manila Fame, which featured a diverse range of Filipino handicrafts, home furniture and décor, and fashion products, thereby fostering a sense of possibility for the inclusion of Sariaya’s Buntal products in the bi-annual trade show.
Ms. Ledesma emphasized that, out of the one hundred forty-four (144) students in attendance, a select group of twenty-five (25) individuals who demonstrated exceptional qualities such as passion, dedication, hard work, and profound love for their country, would be chosen for specialized training during their upcoming school vacation in July. However, she reassured those students who were not selected that they would have subsequent opportunities in due course. This stringent selection process was necessitated by the limited number of handlooms and space available at the Buntal Processing Center.
The impact of the orientation was deeply inspiring. Students were left with a profound understanding of the significance of the Buntal Processing Center and the immense potential of Sariaya’s products. The orientation instilled in them a sense of pride and aspiration, fueling their belief in their ability to contribute to both local and international markets. ♦
