SANTA MARIA, LAGUNA — The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) Provincial Director (PD) Clarke S. Nebrao paid a courtesy visit to Mabitac Municipal Mayor Ronald I. Sana at the Municipal Hall, Mabitac, Laguna, alongside DTI-Laguna Business Development Division Chief Marcelina B. Alcantara and Negosyo Center Business Counsellor (NCBC) Joemarie C. Valizado, on 18 June 2021.

Mabitac Mayor Sana and Municipal Administrator Romeo S. Alarde expressed their gratitude to DTI-Laguna for its continued efforts in extending its programs and services to local entrepreneurs through the Livelihood Seeding Program – Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay and the anticipated debut of Negosyo Center Mabitac in August 2021.

As a response, PD Nebrao also thanked Mayor Sana for their unwavering support of the agency’s programs.  He also outlined various strategies for the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including the following:

  • Agri-business market-matching such as Kalakal Community Market
  • Support for tourism businesses through the partners from the Netherlands for a prospective market-matching opportunity
  • Mobilization of TODA wherein the drivers may divert into delivery services via MyTODA app
  • Support for innovation and start-up communities (e.g., eSports Uprising)
  • Enabling of traditional industries, such as rattan furniture and buko pie making, and leading them to digitalization
  • Possible grant of woodworks equipment to the Local Government Unit hrough the Shared Service Facility.

In addition, Mayor Sana and PD Nebrao agreed to visit the rattan furniture makers at Brgy. Amuyong on 2 July 2021, following the Diskwento Caravan’s opening ceremony, which will be held at the Municipal Covered Court.

Lastly, Mayor Sana introduced several members of the Mabitaceño OFW group to DTI officials, where it was discovered that the group will be applying for the Department of Labor and Employment – Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (DOLE-OWWA) Tulong Puso Program.  The group was recommended to NCBC Valizado for Business Plan Preparation Coaching, which is a main requirement for the program.♦
