Calauan, Laguna — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) released guidelines and health protocols for barber shops and salons on June 1, 2020. These rules are to be implemented before they can re-open again on June 7, 2020. Meanwhile, dine-in restaurants are also allowed in General Community Quarantine. Barbershops and salons are only limited to accept clients 30% of their capacity.

DTI-Laguna Negosyo Center Calauan started its first run of post audit monitoring last June 26, 2020. Negosyo Center Business Counsellor Jestine Arguidas checked if the establishments are compliant with the set health standards.

Common protocols that need to be implemented on both barbershops and salons are the following:

  • limiting of seating capacity to 30%, use of thermal scanner
  • “no face mask, no entry” policy
  • rubbing alcohol is available and can easily be sprayed
  • chairs are distanced at least 1 meter on all sides
  • customers and workers exhibiting symptoms such as colds, cough, and difficulty breathing are politely declined entry
  • regular sanitation schedule
  • availability of alternative methods of payment
  • availability of foot bath at the entrance

Establishments in Calauan, Laguna, are slowly adjusting and are following the “new normal” guidelines as they re-open their businesses again. Being compliant with the new health protocols, livelihood can be provided to everyone without being harmed by the COVID-19 pandemic.  ♦
