To enhance competitiveness among Shared Service Facility (SSF) Cooperators in Quezon Province, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Quezon’s conducted the SSF Competitiveness Enhancement Webinar on 18 March 2021 with 51 participants. This was participated by SSF Cooperators in Quezon Province, other potential micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), participants from DTI-Batangas and Cavite, and another 20 participants consisting of Business Counselors and staff from DTI-Quezon.
The SSF Competitiveness Enhancement Webinar consists of two important competitive components such as the 5s management system combined with Green Economic Development, and COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols in the manufacturing sector. The program started with the acknowledgment of participants by SSF support staff and host of the webinar, Dara Jannes C. Obmerga, she then proceeded with the opening prayer.
DTI Quezon Provincial Director Julieta L. Tadiosa welcomed all the participants, speakers, and guests. She emphasized the importance of 5s and Greening activities in an organization to be more effective in business operations. She also mentioned that MSMEs should comply with the health and safety standards for a safer business environment.
After the welcome remarks, a crowd shot was done for the documentation of the webinar by Business Counselor Carl Kenneth Balauag. SSF Provincial Coordinator and Senior Trade-Industry Development Specialist (STIDS) Ma. Graciela C. Ledesma introduced the first Resource Speaker, Rosemarie Danza for the session on 5s Management System and Greening Practices.
The 5s management system is an effective tool for the productivity of organizations. This aimed to develop greater safety in their operations, reduction in cost, and achieve greater efficiency in records retrieval and disposal. Combined with Green Economic Development, this kind of system will also promote the adoption of greening strategies and measures such as energy management, water resource management, solid waste management, transport management, supply management, natural resources management, and green resilient building.
After the first session, Ms. Ledesma introduced the second Resource Speaker, Philip Leee J. Oliveros, STIDS from the DTI-Quezon’s Consumer Protection Division. The COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols in the area of business operations aimed to guide our MSMEs to be more aware of ensuring safety measures conducive to a healthy environment in their production of goods and delivering services to consumers, especially to manufacturing enterprises.
Ms. Ledesma also led the awarding of certificates to the resource speakers after the two sessions. Ms. Obmerga made a short announcement on the filling-up of customer satisfaction feedback and the deadline of the SSF status report which was on 25 March 2021.
To end the webinar for the afternoon, Business Development Division Chief Anna Marie V. Quincina thanked all the participants, LGU partners, Business Counselors, DTI-Batangas, and DTI-Cavite. She also gently reminded everyone that in order for the webinar to be effective, the participants should apply all the things that they have learned, and to combat COVID-19, they must all follow the safety protocols of the government.
After this webinar, DTI SSF Team will conduct a 5s, Greening, and Health and Safety monitoring in all the SSFs in Quezon Province.♦
