GUMACA, QUEZON —The local economy as well as the artisans can both greatly benefit from encouraging handicraft makers to pursue skills training and seminars. Craftsmen can make higher-quality goods and broaden their product ranges by receiving training to improve their abilities and acquire new techniques. Thus, the Municipal Tourism Office Gumaca invited one (1) artisan of buri bayong and baskets, along with six (6) female volunteers who showed interest in handicraft making, on February 16, 2023.

The objective of the gathering was to encourage the citizens of Gumaca to engage in the handicraft industry. The Municipal Tourism Office gave an overview of the handicraft industry’s market status, price status, advantages, and potential income. To increase the number of artisans in the municipality of Gumaca, skills training will be prepared for some citizens who showed interest in handicrafts making.

The Negosyo Center Gumaca Business Counselor discussed the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) programs and services with potential artisans. The business Counselor also offered free business consultation and advisory services.

Present during the meeting were Ms. Brigette Dayunot of the Municipal Tourism Office, Tourism Assistant II Raymond Evangelista, Kalipi and VisayaMin Focal Person Olly Arban, one (1) artisan, and six (6) female handicraft maker volunteers.
