TAYABAS, QUEZON — On May 11, 2023, the Tayabas City Price Coordinating Council Joint Task Force conducted a regular price monitoring inspection of various establishments, including grocery stores and the public market. The monitoring team, comprised of representatives from the Office of the City Agriculturist, Office of the City Public Market Administrator, and Negosyo Center Tayabas Business Counselor, checked specific stores based on the SRP set by the DTI on February 8, 2023, using the previous monitoring list.

Pork and chicken prices on the public market decreased slightly compared to last month, according to the team’s report. However, some of the stocks of certain commodities were not yet available.

To ensure that businesses comply with the DTI’s SRP and prevent any unjustified price increases that could harm consumers, the monitoring team posted the results of their findings on the Price Watch and public notices about price watches on agricultural products on the Tayabas City Public Market bulletin board to ensure businesses were following the DTI’s SRP.

The CPCC Chair, who is the City Mayor, will review and make recommendations based on the report’s findings. By regulating prices, Tayabas City shows its commitment to protecting the rights and interests of consumers in order to ensure fair prices.
