Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 6 opened the first Bagsakan Fair in the Visayas in partnership with the DTI Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion at Robinsons Place Iloilo. Seventy-nine (79) micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Region 6 and three from other regions, both food and non-food, joined the fair. There are also five Technology Business Incubators (TBI) joined to showcase only their developed products.
Regional Operations Group (ROG) Usec. Blesila A. Lanatayona, Trade Promotions Group (TPG) Usec. Abdulgani M. Macatoman and Bureau of Domestic Trade Opportunities (BDTP) Dir. Marievic M. Bonoan graced the opening online and gave messages for MSMEs and buyers. Present onsite were DTI 6 Regional Director Rebecca M. Rascon, DTI 6 Assistant Regional Director (ARD) Ermelinda P. Pollentes, DTI 6 Provincial Directors (PD), Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Iloilo Chapter President Atty. Joebert A. Peñaflorida, BDTP staff, invited buyers, DTI 6 Chiefs and Staff.
In her opening message, RD Rascon said that “While others are still afraid of COVID-19, why are we here? Because, we all still believe that the conduct of trade fair is an effective means of marketing strategy and product promotion. The Bagsakan Fair is DTI’s response during the pandemic to continuously assist our MSMEs and market test which products still have an impact on getting sales during the pandemic. Let’s help our MSMEs, buy their products.”
Bagsakan Fair is a special project initiated by the BDTP at the onset of the pandemic as a crisis response project to help MSMEs sell their products and support the economy. This initiative has evolved as one of DTI’s commitment under the “Bayanihan We Heal as One Act” to help ensure the supply of food and essential products while helping MSMEs, farmers, fruit growers, and social cooperatives market and sell their products during the pandemic.
DTI Region 6 invites all to be part of this initiative by buying and supporting MSMEs in this Bagsakan Fair until 6 March 2022.
