Young Sharon Lopez was frail and sickly. She was raised by a health-conscious mom and was always forced to eat the greens on the table. Valuing good nutrition, she was able to carry on this practice as she became a mother. She would also feed her children healthy and scrumptious food.

Staying at home meant extra time for her, but she wanted to remain productive. Sharon whisked her ideas and started to get fond of baking and pastry-making which she eventually gives as presents during Christmas to family and friends.

Unlike other bakeries, the fitness enthusiast opted to use natural ingredients. This means no preservatives are added to her goods. Sacrificing the extent of shelf life on the products, Sharon stood by her core values and continued her kneading. She was also able to put up a small store at a building adjacent to her house to fulfill this hobby.

After 10 years of leisure pursuit, Sharon decided to realize the venture and established Crema Homegrown in 2009. The philosophy of the business centered around slow food and wellness.

With her unique selling preposition, Sharon joined DTI’s Kapatid Mentor Me Program in 2017 which has validated her advocacy. She sustained her “healthy” competition among others. Through word of mouth, the business has maintained loyal customers and eventually established pick-up stores. She was also able to provide commissary to several companies and other agencies. Her tasteful delights were also supplied to known cafes and coffee shops in Cebu.

The business was able to withstand the pandemic as Sharon joined Food Safety and Safe Delivery Webinars. She was also able to expand her social media presence with the aid of her daughter.

For Sharon, natural is always better. She doesn’t mind taking the long route and loves to do things as homemade as possible. For every bite of her delight is a mother’s care to remain healthy and bright.
