TACLOBAN CITY — Made in the Philippines Products Week is part of our government’s long-running campaign to promote economic nationalism and help foster public confidence in Philippine-made products.

Robinsons North Tacloban in partnership with DTI Region 8, adapts the celebration and translates the Made in PH Week into the Gawang Otso: Eastern Visayas Products Fair. It will showcase and promote patronage of locally made products by assisted Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) of DTI Region 8.

When the fair was first held in 2021, the producers were very eager to join since pandemic hardly hit their businesses. At the time, they generated P1.9 million in sales. It was a big help for the local producers to rise up from the setback. Last year, the marketing event successfully assisted the local producers again to generate P2.276 million sales from the four-day Gawang-Otso Eastern Visayas Products Fair.

Now in its third year, 65 exhibitors will be participating from the provinces of Region 8 under the Wearables and Homestyle, and Food Sectors. This celebration is geared towards showcasing the very best of genuine locally made products and highlighting the ingenuity and talent of our local manufacturers and entrepreneurs in various industries.

Gawang Otso Eastern Visayas Products Fair will be open on August 17-20, 2023, during mall hours at the Robinsons North Tacloban Ground Floor Activity area. The establishment is an active partner in upholding development of MSMEs in the region through marketing.

The partnership paved the way for free use of exhibit space which made it efficient for the Department and its assisted entrepreneurs who have expressed their desire to conduct a trade fair because it greatly helped them generate income and establish new business linkages from new buyers met during the fair.

In turn, customers in Tacloban need not go to the towns and provinces just to purchase the goods they have been wanting to buy. Native delicacies, traditional cookies, natural teas, tablea, coconut products, fashionable bags and home decor would be available at the fair. Needless to say, these products depict the lifestyle and culture of Eastern Visayas.

DTI 8 looks forward to the prospect that this partnership will encourage more buyers to visit the mall and will result in an exceeding sales generation of the MSMEs from its previous record. ♦
