SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — The Philippines participated at the Sydney Build Expo last May 1 to 2, 2024 at the International Convention Center, during a joint business mission to Sydney, Australia.
The Department of Trade and Industry’s representative office in Australia, Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Sydney (PTIC-Sydney) with the support of the Philippine Consulate General in Australia, and Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) organized the business mission comprising a series of meetings with Australian counterparts from April 28 to May 4, 2024.
PTIC Sydney enticed Australian businesses to engage in collaborative efforts with the country’s construction, architecture, and engineering sectors. This initiative presents a unique opportunity for companies to leverage their expertise and resources in support to 185 Philippine infrastructure flagship projects.
Notably, PTIC Sydney Special Trade Representative Alma Argayoso highlighted the Philippines’ robust economy and its readiness to board investors. With the country’s game-changing policy reforms supported with fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, doing business in the Philippines in now easier and more efficient.
During the Philippine forum, Philippine Consul General in Australia Charmaine Rowena Aviquivil affirmed the deep economic ties between both countries. “Australia is the Philippines’ newest Strategic Partner in the Indo-Pacific region following the recent signing of the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the Philippines and Australia, a testament to a stronger and deeper relationship between the two countries,” CG Aviquivil remarked. The Philippine Delegation at the Expo were composed of representatives from the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB) and Philippine Overseas Construction Board (POCB) of the Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP). ♦
