Cordillera’s Arabica coffee served in fresh plain brew or in a different concoction were offered free as a special treat to attendees of the 34th Cordillera Day Celebrations at the Baguio Convention Center.

The serving of specialty coffee—espresso, cappuccino, mocha, caramel macchiato, and latte has been one of the contributions of the Department of Trade and Industry-Cordillera Administrative Region’s (DTI-CAR) to the annual CAR Day anniversary. Coffee is one of the priority industry clusters of the agency and CAR has been the leading region in the National Coffee Industry Cluster. With the Barista Coffee Academy of Asia (BCAA) as DTI-CAR’s concessionaire for the KAPEtirya, many participants drank quality coffee servings that are usually availed in well-known coffee shops.

DTI-CAR continues to promote locally-produced coffee. Together with its partner agencies and institutions, DTI-CAR also assists local coffee producers across the country. To date, 3,557 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have been assisted since 2017 including various capacity-building activities, consultations, and other promotional activities such as the recently concluded Philippine Coffee Quality Competition. ♦
