Butuan City – For 2019, Caraga gets P761M for road projects under the Roads Leveraging Linkages of Industry and Trade (ROLL IT), a convergence program of DTI and DPWH. Part of this amount or Php 265 Million is for the completion and expansion of the 2018 road projects and P496M for 2019 identified projects. These are all in the 2019 National Expenditure Program (NEP).
ROLL IT aims to facilitate the efficient and more coordinated efforts among the two Departments to identify, prioritize, and implement road access infrastructure leading to various industries and economic zones in a technically- correct and politically- participative process with input and support from the business and civil society, as well as local government units ( LGUs). The road infrastructure projects were selected based on its importance to the growth and development of Industry and Trade in the community as determined by the DTI, LGU, Industry players and the communities. Location of the project must be within twenty (20) kilometers from an industry node, it must support a specific industry/ industries, and must connect to a national/ local roads in good condition.
The 2019 ROLL –IT road projects are expected to serve and link the following industries in the region; Palm Oil, Cacao, Rubber, Corn and Bamboo.♦
