The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – MIMAROPA region, in partnership with the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership, installed a 5-kilowatt off-grid solar power system in the Bogtong Fish Processing Facility of the Bogtong Fish Processors Association (BFPA) in Busuanga, Palawan.

Additionally, BFPA also received 6 shipper boxes with thermal panels. These thermal panels are considered an economical and modular cold chain solution.

The delivery and installation of the systems took place on 15-16 February 2024.

According to estimated calculations, the installed renewable energy source system saves approximately 9 trees every month.

In 2023, a shared service facility worth P1-M was handed over to the BFPA to improve the quality and market competitiveness of the group’s processed fish products. Included in the facility is a water treatment system and other equipment essential for food safety and storage.

The projects under this partnership aim to cover the following Sustainable Development Goals: (1) No Poverty; (2) Zero Hunger; (6) Clean Water and Sanitation; (7) Affordable and Clean Energy; (8) Decent Work and Economic Growth; (12) Responsible Consumption and Production; and (14) Life Below Water. ♦
