MAKATI CITY – With the theme, ‘Empowering Consumers Through Clean Energy Transition’, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)- MIMAROPA region’s provincial offices and Negosyo Centers lined up activities in celebration of the World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD) 2023 promoting access to sustainable energy to consumers and other stakeholders in the region. 

DTI Oriental Mindoro launched an infographic-making contest centered on this year’s WCRD theme, which will run from March 15-22. A special episode on consumer advocacy is also set on March 31 through their local radio program- Trabaho Negosyo Konsyumer ATBP. Likewise, DTI Occidental Mindoro organized a poster-making contest and promoted consumer education through different media platforms in the province. 

DTI Romblon set up a series of consumer education activities for the Romblon State University and Odiongan Local Council of Women, starting on March 15. 

For DTI Marinduque, their WCRD 2023 included several consumer advocacy and education initiatives. A forum on empowering consumers through clean energy transitions was conducted on March 15 in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology.  

DTI Palawan also set up consumer advocacy and monitoring and enforcement activities across the province from March 15-17. 

DTI MIMAROPA’s regional office in Makati in like manner joined in the celebration of the WCRD 2023. Consumer Protection Division Chief Versuelo R. Garcia III and Trade-Industry Development Specialist Engr. Gabrielle Valiente discussed the ways how to empower consumers through clean energy.
