NORTHERN MINDANAO — A coffee grower from New Eden, Pangantucan, Bukidnon celebrates the excellent result achieved by his Arabica coffee beans.

Pangantucan Vice Mayor Manolito Garces bagged the top award in the Arabica Category of the Philippine Coffee Quality Competition (PCQC) 2023 with a cupping score of 86.

The natural-processed coffee beans were described to be floral with notes of pineapple, berries, and chocolate.

Vice Mayor Garces was additionally awarded with Best Natural for his coffee.

Aside from bagging the highest prize, three more Bukidnon farmers were awarded for their quality Arabica coffee beans.

Junmar Gunayan of MILALITTRA Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (MILFACO) placed fourth in the Arabica Category, Arnold Pina of Bayanihan Millenium Multi-Purpose Cooperative placed sixth, and Rosebele Sulatan also from MILFACO placed ninth.

There was a total of 43 entries in the Arabica Category this year.

The PCQC awarding was held during the last day of the Philippine Coffee Expo at the World Trade Center Metro Manila, Pasay on June 4, 2023. ♦
