NORTHERN MINDANAO — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 10 gathered together 80 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Northern Mindanao to learn on the fundamentals of exporting in the international market on May 30, 2023 at Mallberry Suites Business Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

Usapang Exports: Learning the Fundamentals of Exporting to Penetrate International Market was organized to implement the Export Development Program for Northern Mindanao, enhance the region’s export competitiveness, and pro mote the products and services of MSMEs in the global market.

It was organized by DTI-10 in partnership with DTI-Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB) and Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc.—Cagayan de Oro (PHILEXPORT-10A).

The information session covered topics on the Overview of EMB Services and Programs, Overview of Export Procedures with EO 1016 List of Prohibited and Regulated Export Products, International Trade Centre’s Export Readiness Assessment, and Market Opportunities for Export Products (halal, coffee, wearables & homestyle) discussed by DTI-EMB; Client Profile Registration System (CPRS) for New Exporters discussed by PHILEXPORT-10A; and Export Procedures and Documentation and Lodgement of Export Declaration discussed by the Bureau of Customs (BOC).

Guest speakers from DTI-EMB also provided an orientation on the online export data and service portal, Tradeline Philippines.

The session wrapped with one-on-one consultations to address the queries of entrepreneurs with regard to export.

Usapang Exports is one of DTI’s initiatives to develop exports in the region and capacitate potential entrepreneurs who have no experience in exports but who are interested in engaging in the global market. ♦
