NORTHERN MINDANAO – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Oriental destroyed more than P760,000 worth of uncertified products at the City Engineering and Public Works Compound, Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City on March 12, 2024.

The products were seized during a product surveillance and enforcement operations conducted by the DTI provincial office, after the products were found to lack the mandatory Philippine Standard (PS) mark or Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) sticker. This indicated that the products did not undergo safety and quality evaluation.

The destroyed products consist of rice cookers, food processors, turbo boiler, pressure cookers, coffee maker, induction cookers, and microwave ovens.

DTI Misamis Oriental reminds local traders that selling uncertified products is a violation of the Consumer Act of the Philippines and the Standard Law as the provincial office continues its regular monitoring and enforcement activities.

It also encourages consumers to remain vigilant and to check for product certifications before buying products under mandatory certification. Consumers who encounter uncertified products from retailers, distributors, and manufacturers can report them through the Consumer Care Hotline at DTI (1-384) or consumercare@dti.gov.ph.♦
