NORTHERN MINDANAO — In its bid to deliver quality consumer goods at discounted prices to the public, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Oriental entered into a Diskwento Caravan memorandum of agreement (MOA) with 14 suppliers of basic goods on May 29, 2023.

Diskwento Caravan is a DTI initiative in partnership with the manufacturers and distributors of basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPC), which aims to provide reasonably-priced quality products to consumers.

As part of the agreement, the suppliers will participate to every Diskwento Caravan initiated by DTI Misamis Oriental and may have their sister company join the Diskwento Caravan for areas outside their area of jurisdiction, as applicable and as appropriate.

In addition, the suppliers will ensure that 75% of their Stock Keeping Units (SKU) for sale during the Diskwento Caravan are BNPCs and that the BNPC and other consumer goods are priced at least 10% lower than the prevailing prices in the local market.

Meanwhile, DTI Misamis Oriental will collaborate with the host local government unit (LGU) for the identification of site where the Diskwento Caravan will be held and take the lead in the promotional campaigns to patronize the Diskwento Caravan and enjoin the host LGU to hold recorida, among other responsibilities.

DTI Misamis Oriental signed the MOA with suppliers: Beehive Distribution, Kalbe International, The Life Giving Products & Specialty Corp., Home Energy (Petron – LPG), Virginia Foods Inc., Pik and Pak Meatshop, Ororama Supercenter, Julmar Commercial, Philippine Spring Water Resources Inc., Crown Paper & Station, Prince Retail Group of Companies, Spruce Designer Network, Inc., Elim Magnolia Chicken, and Elim Purefoods. ♦
