KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 12 partnered with the Philippine Red Cross – South Cotabato chapter for a blood donation drive among its employees and other partner government agencies on Thursday, October 19, at the DTI 12 Regional Office in this city.

Fifty employees from DTI 12 Regional Office, DTI South Cotabato, and some of the neighboring government agencies, including the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), participated in the said drive.

In an interview, DTI 12 Regional Director Flora Politud-Gabunales, a silver blood donor awardee of the Red Cross herself, underscored the importance of holding the bloodletting activity as part of the agency’s corporate social responsibility.

“While the mandate of our agency is to enable business and empower consumers, we extend our service through this bloodletting activity to emphasize our unity and concern for the community,” said Politud-Gabunales.

She also extended her gratitude to the employees from DTI 12 and partner government agencies who voluntarily donated their blood, as well as to the Philippine Red Cross – South Cotabato chapter for sharing their time and effort.

The blood donation drive is in accordance with the Republic Act No. 7719, also known as the National Blood Services Act of 1994 which aims to raise public awareness on the importance of voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation in saving Filipinos lives. ♦
