Pulling upwards the innovation program of the Regional Inclusive Innovation Center in the region, known as the Sustaining Harvest through Innovation and Nurturing Enterprise or Shine Cagayan Valley, the Department of Science and Technology, headed by Regional Director (RD) Virginia G. Bilgera, met with RD Leah Pulido Ocampo on 15 March 2022.

The agency heads mapped out strategies to further the implementation of the abovementioned program which champions innovation initiatives in the region to streamline the impacts of economic development, inclusivity, and sustainability: Department of Science and Technology (DOST) as the Chair and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as its Co-chair.

Relevant ways forward for its beneficiaries and the clients that might be affected by the USAID-STRIDE engagement pullout and WEE Project termination were also discussed.

Last year, DOST Region 2 and DTI R2 awarded P1,000,000 and P500,000, respectively, funding the implementation of RIIC activities, which includes the establishment of a Business Innovation Unit, a dynamic one-stop shop to better cater to prospective innovators in the region.

Furthermore, the directors will set a progress report meeting next week with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss issues, concerns, ways forward, and a turnover of its outgoing president.

DTI R2 Assistant Regional Director(ARD) Winston Singun, DOST R02 ARD-TOS Dr. Teresita A. Tabaog, DTI OIC-Division Chief Randolph Cacacho, and DOST R02 SRS II Raquel B. Santos were also present in the said meeting. ♦
