In observance of the Consumer Welfare Month (CWM), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Quirino Provincial Office conducted a seminar on Product Standards on 17 October 2018 at the DISADECO Function Hall in Diffun, Quirino. The seminar aimed to educate the business owners and their staff on relevant information regarding product standards.
In her opening remarks, PD Ma. Sofia G. Narag discussed the objectives of the undertaking stressing that it is being conducted to ensure the protection of both the consumers and business owners.
Mr. Lovell Mark C. Campania, Trade and Industry Development Specialist (TIDS), discussed the Department Administrative Order (DAO) No. 2, Series of 2007 with emphasis on the responsibilities of retailers. Mr. Campania urged the retailers to comply with trade regulations to avoid penalties.
Ms. Aimee C. Garcia, Trade and Industry Development Analyst (TIDA), also discussed the list of products that are under mandatory certification. She distributed to the participants sample logo of approved steel bars, equal leg angle bars, and the list of products under mandatory certification for their reference.
DTI-Quirino hopes that with intensive information dissemination, violations will be avoided or at least minimized. The seminar was attended by fifty participants from the business sector.♦
