The members of the Regional Competitiveness Committee (RCC), chaired by the Department of Trade and Industry–Region 2 (DTI-2) convened for its 3rd Business meeting in 2018 on 3 December 2018 at the NERBAC Conference Hall, DTI-2, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

The meeting, which was attended by eleven (11) out of its thirteen (13) member-institutions, aimed to present the accomplishments of the RCC as of 30 November 2018; to approve the proposed 2019 RCC Work Plan; and to discuss the upcoming “Cagayan Valley Regional (CVR) Investment Forum” to be held on 10 December 2018.

In his Welcome Remarks, OIC Regional Director Ruben B. Diciano, conveyed his sincerest gratitude to the RCC member-institutions for their steadfast support to the programs of the committee. He noted that the collaboration which was displayed by the RCC resulted to break-through accomplishments. RD Diciano specifically mentioned that RCC Region 2 was recognized by the Competitiveness Bureau for “… ensuring that all critical issues (in the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index Survey) are covered through constant coordination and follow-ups. He further enjoined the support of everyone in the implementation of RA 11032 otherwise known as the “Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018”. Finally, he stressed that the RCC Region 02 will continue to implement relevant and responsive initiatives to make the Cagayan Valley Region a more competitive and business-friendly Region.

The topics discussed included the Proposed Clarifications/ Recommendations to the 2019 Local Data Capture Sheet of the Annual Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index, CVR Investment Forum, 2019 Work Plan, Cagayan State University’s Niche Program, and Department of Tourism’s Accreditation Procedures and other Tourism-related Updates.

During the meeting, the RCC approved the proposed 2019 Work Plan and finalized the institutional arrangements for the CVR Investment Forum.

In attendance during the meeting were representatives from the Regional Offices of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine Statistics Authority, National Economic and Development Authority, and Department of Trade and Industry; Provincial Offices of Department of Trade and Industry; Batanes State College; Cagayan State University; Isabela State University; Nueva Vizcaya State University; Quirino State University and the and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Region 2.♦
