Godiosa Talania Macabacyao, a resilient and determined 23-year-old entrepreneur, embodies the spirit of perseverance and innovation. Graduating from the Pambayang Dalubhasaan ng Marilao with a degree in Computer Science amidst financial struggles and battling childhood trauma, her journey to success is nothing short of remarkable.

Launching GTM Arts and Crafts Manufacturing despite the challenging landscape of the pandemic in 2021, Godiosa faced numerous obstacles. Grappling with limited funds and mental health issues, she seized an opportunity presented by a poster-making contest in their barangay, where she emerged as the champion, winning a modest Php2,000 prize.

With this seed capital and a newfound determination, Godiosa embarked on her entrepreneurial journey, initially venturing into the online reselling of bayong bags. Despite lacking prior business knowledge, she embraced the learning curve, balancing her studies with the demands of her budding enterprise.

The turning point came when her family relocated to their hometown in Dilasag, Aurora, providing her with a conducive environment to nurture her business. Leveraging her artistic talents, Godiosa transitioned from reselling to hand-painting bayong bags, infusing them with unique designs that captured the attention of locals and tourists alike.

In a stroke of serendipity, Godiosa’s dedication caught the eye of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Aurora Provincial Office. She shifted her focus to manufacturing her own line of bayong bags, marking a significant milestone in her entrepreneurial journey. Supported by DTI Negosyo Center Dilasag, Godiosa received invaluable assistance, from business registration and permit acquisition to marketing assistance, propelling her toward greater visibility and growth opportunities.

In 2022, her participation in trade fairs further bolstered her business, expanding her reach beyond local borders and into regional markets. GTM joined the first-ever Siempre Aurora Trade Fair conducted by DTI at NE Pacific Mall, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. She was also one of the Aurora exhibitors who participated in the 24th Likha ng Central Luzon Trade Fair at Megatrade Hall 2, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.

She drew customers from various places and developed a loyal customer base eager to experience the quality and innovation she delivered. She was able to expand her customer base significantly because of trade exhibits, where she displayed her products with meticulous attention to detail, and her active presence on various social media platforms, where she diligently engaged with her audience through captivating content and responsive interactions.

Starting from humble beginnings, she now has the capability to generate between Php700.00 to Php4,000.00 daily and is able to afford to rent a physical store in Poblacion, Dilasag.

Today, GTM Arts and Crafts Manufacturing is a testament to Godiosa’s resilience and ingenuity. From personalized souvenirs to innovative products crafted from seashells, her diverse offerings cater to a broad audience, cementing her position as a trailblazer in the local arts and crafts scene.

With a thriving storefront in the center of Dilasag and a steady stream of online and offline customers, Godiosa’s journey from reseller to manufacturer is a testament to her unwavering determination and entrepreneurial spirit. As she says, “reseller noon, manufacturer na ngayon,” encapsulates her transformative evolution and inspires others to pursue their dreams against all odds. ♦
