25 March 2024 I Negosyo Center Business Counselors from 22 municipalities have bravely endured the summer heat to make the rounds of grocery stores, hardware and supermarkets to monitor and check their compliance to SRP and Fair-Trade Laws.

The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office intensifies its campaign in monitoring the products and goods in stores, especially in groceries and supermarkets widening coverage outside of major trading centers located in key cities.

Based on the Negosyo Centers monitoring, groceries and supermarkets are largely following the SRPs on Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities. DTI monitors canned fish, processed milk, coffee, laundry soap, water in bottles and containers and locally manufactured instant noodles. The prime commodities on the other hand are flour, processed and canned pork, processed and canned corned beef and poultry meat, vinegar, fish sauce, soy sauce, toilet soap, paper, school supplies, cement, GI sheets, construction supplies, batteries, electrical supplies, light bulbs and steel wires.

A few stores, however, were found to have overpriced some products and are due to receive a Letter of Inquiry from the Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna I Tawingan, TF). ♦
