CABUYAO CITY, LAGUNA — The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) through its Negosyo Center Cabuyao conducted an orientation and seminar on Consumer Education for the Local Price Coordinating Council Members. The said event was held at Cabuyao Retail Plaza, Cabuyao City, Laguna, on February 9, 2023. The event was graced by the OIC Provincial Director of DTI-Laguna, Mr. Christian Ted Tungohan.
The City Government of Cabuyao issued an Executive Order creating the Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC) as a response to the issued Joint Memorandum Circular No. 3 series of 2020 by the Department of Agriculture, DTI, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and Department of Health with subject strengthening the roles of LPCCs and local government units in managing unreasonable and excessive price increase of basic necessities and prime commodities.
The aforementioned seminar aims to equip knowledge in regard to consumer education and to fully understand the extent of power and responsibilities of the LPCC in regulating local prices. The LPCCs shall continue to monitor prices of all basic necessities and prime commodities and enforce suggested retail prices even during normal times to make sure that business establishments do not take advantage of the consumer.
The event concluded with an open forum in which participants were able to clarify some points and share their insights. ♦
