DTI Quezon's Shared Service Facilities conduct benchmarking activity in ProPak Philippines at the World Trade Center, Pasay City

PASAY CITY —On February 1, 2023, DTI Quezon, under its Shared Service Facilities (SSF) Program led by SSF Provincial Coordinator Ma. Graciela C. Ledesma, together with Trade-Industry Development Specialists Leyland B. Madridano and Jennifer L. Ilagan, and SSF Support Staff Dendro M. Pereda, conducted benchmarking activity in ProPak Philippines at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

The ProPak Philippines is a 3-day event on February 1–3, 2023, and the leading international processing and packaging trade event in the Philippines. It is the perfect platform for market trends, investments, and industry networking through product exchange and a variety of conferences, seminars, and technical workshops offering sustainable solutions for the existing SSF cooperators to grow and advance their respective operations.

The benchmarking activity commenced on the first day of the said event and was attended by Edwin Escamillas and Herminia Arpia from the Candelaria Federation of Farmers Association (CFFA) as representatives and direct beneficiaries of the SSF Project for Multi-commodity Processing, Mylene Lavadia and Erwin Coronado from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) and cooperators of the SSF Project for Food and Herbal Processing, as well as Florencio Flores and Pablo Arpia from SICAP, cooperators of the SSF Project for Cacao Processing.

The said activity aims to strengthen the operationalization of SSF projects among the participating cooperators through benchmarking as well as acquire new knowledge in packaging and processing innovations that can be adapted and applied to their respective operations. During the event, the SSF Team, together with the SSF Cooperators, attended the official opening ceremony of Propak Philippines, where various organizations were present in support of the said event. Following the ceremony, the exhibit was opened to all guests, showcasing both local and international suppliers’ products in the packaging industry.

The SSF Cooperators who attended the event were able to expose themselves to new trends and innovative processes in packaging for different industries such as food, technology, and other large commercial productions. They are also able to meet and build new connections with different suppliers as well as buyers from different aspects of their respective industries. In the afternoon, the team was also able to attend seminars such as Philippine Packaging Forums Day 1 Session 1: Global Sustainable & Circular Packaging Design from WPO Perspective and Philippine Packaging Forums Day 1 Session 2: Global Views on Smart Packaging & Innovative Processing & Packaging Machinery, which further increased their knowledge and awareness of the packaging industry.
