NORTHERN MINDANAO – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 10, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 10, and the local government unit (LGU) of Opol in Misamis Oriental signed a tripartite sub-project agreement on Rural Agro-enterprise Partnership for Inclusive Development and Growth (RAPID Growth) for the improvement of Nangcaon farm-to-market road in N-Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City on September 18, 2023.

The P30.38 million total project cost of the farm-to-market infrastructure (FMI) with a total length of 1.23 kilometers will benefit at least 150 households or at least 100 farmers and 50 non-farmers in their production of coffee and cacao.

The FMI is focused on securing the farmers’ and SMEs’ access to markets by rehabilitating farm-to-market access roads.

It is one of the components of the RAPID Growth Project to commit to the project’s goal of promoting sustainable increase of income among small-scaled farmers and unemployed individuals in rural areas across selected value chains.

In his welcome message, DTI-10 Regional Director Ermedio Abang expressed that the signing of the sub-project agreement for the improvement of Nangcaon farm-to-market road is one of DTI’s efforts to uplift the communities in the rural areas.

“We look forward to providing additional support to our small coffee farmers and cacao producers through our other programs such as Shared Service Facilities, Kapatid Mentor ME, and Industry Cluster Enhancement, among others.” he said.

The tripartite sub-project agreement was signed by Opol Mayor Jayfrancis Bago, DTI-10 Regional Director Ermedio Abang, and DILG-10 Regional Director Wilhelm Suyko.♦
