SANTA CRUZ, LAGUNA — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Laguna Provincial Office, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Laguna, organized a “DTI Bagwis Summit” at the Cultural Center, Provincial Capitol Compound, Santa Cruz, Laguna, on May 17, 2023. There were around 250 participants (mostly Bagwis Awardees) present in the said gathering.

This summit was graced by Laguna Provincial Administrator Atty. Dulce H. Rebanal who gave a welcome remarks, DTI Regional Operations Group Undersecretary Blesila A. Lantayona and DTI Region 4A OIC Regional Director Marissa C. Argente who both delivered their respective inspirational messages, and DTI Laguna OIC Provincial Director Christian Ted O. Tungohan who ended the program with his closing remarks.

This summit served as venue and opportunity for the DTI Laguna and the Provincial Government of Laguna to perform the following:

  • Launch the Online Reporting System for the DTI Bagwis Awardees (this system will make it easier for the DTI Laguna and the Bagwis Awardees to have the monthly reports, specifically on the Consumer Welfare Desks);
  • Award the DTI Bagwis Seals of Excellence to the qualified establishments;
  • Provide a Seminar on Empowering Customer Relations to become drivers of Best Customer Experience; and
  • Provide an update regarding the said program.

The DTI Bagwis is one of the programs of the Department of Trade and Industry, which aims to promote consumer protection. It recognizes business establishments for their excellence in upholding the rights and welfare of consumers and practicing responsible business. The seals of excellence being given to the qualified establishments serve as guide to consumers in availing safe, quality and reasonably priced products and services to get the best value for their money.

Laguna has the most number of Bagwis Awardees in the Region 4A comprising 41% or 230 out of 566 seals. Likewise, DTI 4A has received an award for having the most number of DTI Gold Bagwis Seals of Excellence for three (3) consecutive years, where the province of Laguna contributed the most number of Gold seals in the region.

DTI will continue to advocate the programs with regard to customer service excellence like this DTI Bagwis Program to benefit more the consumers. Furthermore, we look forward to more Bagwis Awardees in the province of Laguna and in the Philippines as a whole to be able to provide better consumer protection.
