LUCENA CITY — On May 25, 2023, the Department of Trade and Industry-Quezon launched the CALABARZON’s first Kalakal Quezon: FUNtastic Summer Trade Fair with CoCaNut (Coffee, Cacao and Coconut) under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Program (CFIDP) at the Mall Atrium, SM City Lucena, Lucena City, Quezon. The CFIDP Kalakal Quezon trade fair aims to support and uplift local farmers by promoting their exceptional products made from coconut, cacao, and coffee. This trade fair presents a unique opportunity for consumers to embrace the richness of our local agricultural resources while directly contributing to the growth of our farming communities.

The masters of the ceremony, TIDS Jennifer E. Ilagan and TIDS Leyland B. Madridano, gathered all the exhibitors, government and private agencies, and other attendees to jumpstart the opening ceremony. Mr. Lawrence Perreras, Executive Assistant, representing Hon. Mayor Mark Don Victor B. Alcala extended a warm welcome, while Mr. Bibiano C. Concibido, Jr., Regional Manager III, PCA-Region IV, and Dr. Ana Clarissa S. Mariano, Provincial Agriculturist, delivered messages to all attendees.

OIC-Assistant Regional Director/DTI Cavite Provincial Director Revelyn A. Cortez gave her inspirational message. She said, “Congratulations to Quezon for being a cacao hub and coconut capital of CALABARZON. Hopefully, yearly na itonng 3-in-1 event of Coffee, Cacao and Coconut. Kaya’t tangkilikin natin ang sariling atin.

At the end of the opening program, Provincial Director Julieta L. Tadiosa concluded the event with an encouraging message. She said, “Ito po ang kauna-unahang CFIDP Kalakal Quezon trade fair sa buong CALABARZON at nais po namin na matulungan ang lahat ng farmers na kalahok upang ma-showcase ang kanilang coconut, coffee, and cacao products.”

Eighteen exhibitors from different cities/municipalities of Quezon Province joined the trade fair, such as Alabat Island Farmers Producers Cooperative, CACOPMAI, Cocomed Enterprises, Ecoden Nature Farm, Em-Ar Handicrafts Trading, Flavors of Quezon, Flor and Daisy Agricultural Farm, Four K Kakao Farm, Greenlife Coconut Products Philippines, Inc., Ilayang Talim Agricultural Cooperative, KALIPI Tiaong, Pasciolco Agri-Ventures, Inc., Pinagdanlayan Farmers Association, Inc., Pinagdanlayan Farmers Association, Inc., Pinagdanlayan Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Roxas Estate Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Ruthchil Chocolates, SICAP Quezon Agriculture Cooperative, and W.L. Montealto Enterprise.

The CFIDP Kalakal trade fair ran from May 25 to 31, 2023.
