On September 19, 2023, a meeting took place at E-Learning Ville in Mauban, Quezon. The meeting was convened by the Municipal Agriculture Office and the Mayor’s office. Representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Quezon, led by Ms. Lani O. Constantino, Chief Trade and Industry Development Specialist of the Consumer Protection Division, and Ms. Nicole P. Lleva, Negosyo Center–Mauban Business Counselor, actively engaged in the meeting discussions. Present also in the meeting are Mayor Ninong Erwin Pastrana, Vice Mayor Alween Sardea, Sangguniang Bayan Members, Department Heads, and Representatives from various business sectors of Mauban.

The primary focus of this meeting was to deliberate upon and take potential actions regarding Executive Order (EO) No. 39, recently issued by President Marcos. EO 39 is the imposition of mandated Price Ceilings of P41/kg for regular milled rice and P45/kg for well-milled rice. Simultaneously, participants seized the opportunity to delve into the activation of the Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC), tasked with monitoring the prices of various consumer goods, extending well beyond rice. To provide in-depth insights into the LPCC’s purpose and functions, Ms. Constantino was invited to share her expertise.

Following the presentations, an open forum took place, during which representatives from business sectors and department heads raised queries about EO 39. They also expressed positive feedback regarding the benefits of an active LPCC in Mauban, especially in making informed decisions during calamities and addressing the common issue of the prices of products in the public market.

The Local Government Unit of Mauban is committed to organizing another meeting session similar to this one, to delve deeper into LPCC activation.
