In compliance with the Executive Order No. 39 issued by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., mandating Price Ceiling for Rice, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Quezon joins the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Perez, Quezon in conducting rice price monitoring on September 13, 2023.

The Joint Monitoring Team (JMT) was composed of representatives from the Municipal Treasurer’s Office (MTO), Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO), Office of the Municipal Agriculture (OMA), Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO); and DTI Quezon represented by the Negosyo Center–Alabat Business Counselor and Government Internship Program (GIP) assigned staff.

Eight (8) barangays, which include Bagong Silang, Villa Manzano Sur, Villa Manzano Norte, Pambuhan (North-Lamon Bay area), Mainit Sur, Mainit Norte, Maabot and Rizal (South), were covered by the two (2) monitoring teams.

A total of twenty-six (26) sari-sari store owners selling rice were interviewed to record inventories of Regular Milled Rice (RMR) and Well-Milled Rice (WMR), validate the price of rice, and identify rice mills/wholesale outlets where they regularly sourced out their rice supply. ♦
