SARIAYA, QUEZON — Following the previous meeting focused on identifying potential solutions to address the manpower issue at the Buntal Processing Center in Barangay Pili, Sariaya, Quezon, a subsequent meeting was held on May 16, 2023. The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Quezon represented by STIDS Ma. Graciela Ledesma, Negosyo Center Sariaya Senior Business Counselor Shayne B. Nocus, Sariaya Fiber Producers Association (SAFIPA) President Mr. Juan Espinosa, Pili National High School (PNHS) Principal I, Ms. Maribel Alcantara, and Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) subject Teachers Ms. Katherine Joy Maaliw, Ms.Gemmalyn Beremer, and Mr. William June Rocero, to discuss and establish a possible partnership between the Buntal Processing Center and Pili National High School that will bridge the gap between industry requirements and the skills possessed by the students.

Representatives from DTI provided insights into the challenges faced by the Buntal Processing Center and stressed the need for a workforce to meet the increasing demand for Buntal products. They also recognized the importance of equipping students with entrepreneurial skills and offered to conduct a seminar that would educate and inspire them in the field of entrepreneurship.

Pili National High School expressed its willingness to support the initiative, recognizing the importance of providing students with practical experience and skills that align with industry needs. The meeting explored potential collaboration avenues, including hands-on experience, training programs, and curriculum enhancements.

Furthermore, representatives from Pili National High School had the opportunity to visit the Buntal Processing Center, where they were given a comprehensive tour of the facility, interacted with the center’s staff, and gained valuable insights into the skills required to work in the industry.
