Creating handcrafted products and immersing in Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects have been Blesilda “Blessy” Lustria’s passion ever since she was young. Influenced by the female forces in her family (specifically her mother, grandmother, and aunt), she engaged herself in the world of crocheting.
In 2013, her passion was soon realized into a business which has a wide array of handmade products ranging from whimsical accessories, educational and interactive toys, and decorative home items – all made from fabric! Felt Soph Fun, derived from her daughter’s name, started its run by joining pop-ups and craft stores in Laguna and Metro Manila.
Delving more into her business, Blessy personalizes her products in line with her clients’ liking which amplifies its value. Also, she is in the process of venturing in upcycling felt scraps in order to promote greening and sustainability. She had also partnered with two local retails stores in Manila and Cebu in order to widen her market reach.
Amidst the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Blessy took her chance by interacting with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Laguna through its Facebook page. She inquired if there are programs which would help her in further developing the business. She joined the Kapatid Mentor ME—Money Market Encounter (KMME-MME) Online for Online Sellers and painstakingly attended all the modules. She was able to learn more knowledge on how to manage her business and she was also awarded with the Best Business Improvement Plan (BIP).
Equipped with her newfound learnings, Blessy and Felt Soph Fun would continue to soar in making handcrafted products in order to help the economy and to generate jobs for the Filipino people. ♦
