A man who had lost his source of income due to tragic events that happened to their family back in 2016. A dreamer who cope with his self-confidence and motivation to continue his career as a network marketer when it also swept away. An entrepreneur who shows resiliency as he found a way to earn income by working at a rice store and a toy shop located at the Public Market of Santa Maria, Laguna.  In spite of all that happened, he remained calm and was reminded of the saying “only through fire is a strong sword forged”.

He is John Neil Selda, now, the owner of Riscent Cosmetic Products Manufacturing, located in Santa Maria, Laguna. Selda offered his faith to the Lord to guide him on what to do next after all the challenges he encountered during times when he thinks to stop continuing what he’s doing.

All praises to God, because he was led to meet a supplier for his planned business, and even provided for his initial capital.  With just P8,000.00, he was able to begin his business and sell perfumes within the local area.  Later that year, he visited the Negosyo Center Santa Maria to ask how to register his business.  He was then given information on the Business Name Registration process and requirements and on the DTI and Negosyo Center programs and services that he could avail in the future.

In April 2018, he returned to the Negosyo Center office and registered the business name Riscent Enterprise.  He had decided that he will be making perfumes on his own because it would provide him a much greater profit than just reselling it.  He then strived to learn how to make perfumes and look for suppliers of raw materials.

The Negosyo Center invited him to attend the DTI IV-A Pack! Pinas Roadshow held on 29-30 May 2018 in Cavite where he met suppliers for his packaging needs at a lower cost. From then on,  he was able to gain more confidence and dedication to be a more serious business-minded person again as he actively participated in various activities of DTI and Negosyo Center like SMERAs on Entrepreneurial Mind-setting, Marketing, Effective Selling and Negotiation Skills, and Brand Awareness; and coaching sessions on Basic Bookkeeping and E-marketing.  These seminars help him to improve his knowledge in running his own business.

Last year, Selda has successfully finished the DTI Kapatid Mentor Micro Enterprise (KMME) Program.  He has gained more friends and mentors, and his learnings and experiences from the program have helped him realize that this is the direction the Lord wants him to take.

John, as to how he is being called by his close friends, is now committed to making products that will boost the confidence of his customers.  Other than perfumes, he now offers cologne, hand sanitizer, and lip tint with various scents and colors.  That is why he changed his business name to Riscent Cosmetic Products Manufacturing.
