The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – MIMAROPA, in partnership with Havas Ortega (an award-winning communications agency in the Philippines), organized a virtual information session on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for consumers and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) on Friday, March 15, 2024.

The activity is part of the agency’s celebration of World Consumer Rights Day 2024, bearing the theme “Fair and Responsible AI for Consumers.”

Around 60 consumers, MSMEs, and DTI officials and staff from Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan joined the session via the Zoom application.

Vonn Vincent Tanchuan, Associate Digital Director of Havas Ortega, facilitated the discussion. He emphasized that AI should serve as a catalyst and enabler for individuals and institutions. Additionally, Tanchuan underlined the ways in which AI may be used as an enhancement tool through optimization, acceleration, and transformation.

As one of the regional leaders in digitalization and technology, DTI MIMAROPA Regional Director Rodolfo Mariposque said, “We are thrilled to leverage on the power of AI technology in harnessing the potential of our local entrepreneurs and consumers in MIMAROPA.” ♦
