NORTHERN MINDANAO – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 10 awarded 88 establishments in Northern Mindanao with the Bagwis Seal of Excellence during the Regional Bagwis Awards 2023.

Bagwis Awards is a program of DTI that gives due recognition to establishments that uphold the rights of consumers while upholding responsible business practices. It also encourages establishments to set up a Consumer Welfare Desk (CWD) or an equivalent customer relations office to provide information to customers and serve as mechanism to resolve consumer complaints.

The Bagwis Awards is classified into three: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. It shall be valid for three years from date of conferment.

Supermarkets, department stores and specialty stores, appliance center, hardware stores, and DTI accredited service and repair shops can join the program.

Seven establishments were awarded with the Gold Bagwis, 22 with Silver, and 59 with Bronze.

DTI-10 Regional Director Ermedio J. Abang thanked “the empowered businesses that empower consumers.”

“We thank everyone for your commitment in demonstrating the highest level of business ethics by upholding fair and honest market practice through voluntary self-regulation and service excellence.” RD Abang said.

The Regional Bagwis Awards is one of the major events organized in celebration of Consumer Welfare Month. ♦
