Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 10 reaffirms its support to programs and activities that foster innovation and competitiveness in the economy of Northern Mindanao with the regional celebration of National Innovation Day dubbed as “Northern Mindanao Regional Innovation Program and Exhibit (NorMinRIPE) 2024” on April 22-24, 2024 at SM City Cagayan de Oro Uptown, Cagayan de Oro City. 

With the theme, “Reshaping the Future, Advancing Filipinnovation in Region X,” the celebration was intended to boost awareness on the National Innovation Agenda and Strategy Document (NIASD) 2023-2032, identify regional strengths that can contribute to the core targets of NIASD 2023-2032, and foster collaboration. It also sought to empower local businesses and inspire young minds while recognizing regional innovators.

DTI-10 OIC-Assistant Regional Director Almer Masillones participated alongside other innovation leaders from various national government agencies and private organizations of the Regional Research, Development and Innovation Committee (RRDIC)-X in the ceremonial launching of the NorMinRIPE 2024 and unveiling of the Filipinnovision Wall on April 22, 2024.

OIC-ARD Masillones also closed the first day of the event by encouraging everyone to continue participating in the series of activities of NorMinRIPE 2024.

DTI-10 extended its support to tech-startups and innovators in displaying their innovative products and services in the exhibition.

In addition, it hosted a talking show segment, “Ask Us Anything,” to get to know how MSMEs realize their global potential with the help of digital technologies. The featured guests of the segment were Mr. Neptune Factor, CEO of ECFulfill; Mr. Craig Padla, General Manager of Padla’s Homemade Products; and Ms. Gemma Dela Vega-Emata, Managing Director of Trunk 2 Gold Agribusiness Corporation.

Finally, the Office together with the other subcommittees from the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)-10, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)-10, and the Oro Chamber of Commerce that compose the RRDIC-X, and which was led by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-10, recognized local government units (LGUs) for their outstanding innovations based on the Innovation Pillar of the 2023 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) with the first Amihanang Mindanao Breakthrough Innovations and Technologies (AMBIT) Awards.

The awarded LGUs are Cagayan de Oro City for Most Innovative Highly Urbanized City; Misamis Oriental’s Gingoog City for Most Innovative Component City and Salay as Most Innovative 3rd-4th Class Municipality; Maramag, Bukidnon for Most Innovative 1st-2nd Class Municipality; and Catarman, Camiguin for Most Innovative 5th-6th Class Municipality. ♦
