The Department of Trade and Industry in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, United States Agency of International Development – Strengthening Private Enterprises through Digital Economy (USAID-SPEED), Nueva Vizcaya Agricultural Terminal (NVAT) Inc., and Insight SCS held the NVAT Fresh Strategic Planning Workshop at Marco Polo, Ortigas, Pasig City on 19 April 2024.

Launched on 31 August 2023, the NVAT Fresh is a scalable, cloud-based, business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce marketplace platform initiated through the collaborative efforts of DTI, USAID SPEED, and NVAT. It is designed to facilitate transactions within the Nueva Vizcaya Agricultural Terminal (NVAT) ecosystem, improving access and efficiency for farmers, traders, and buyers.

The said planning workshop was conducted to assess the current status, achievements, and areas for improvement of the project, set more realistic goals for its components, and establish an action plan and timeline for the goals identified.

The four project components identified include the Food Terminal Digitalization, Farmers’ Capacity Building, Market Linkage, and the NVAT Fresh E-commerce Platform.

As a result, a comprehensive three-year plan encompassing the four key components was developed, aiming to achieve the following objectives:

a.) Food Terminal Digitalization: Fully automate core revenue-generating processes and mission-critical support functions.

b.) Farmers Capacity Building: Launch extensive capacity-building initiatives for farmers, NVAT suppliers, and NVAT operations staff to enhance efficiency and ensure product quality.

c.) Market Linkage: Target a 50% share of NVAT Fresh.com transactions by 2026, with an annual sales increase of 50%.

d.) Platform Integration: Complete the full integration of NVATFresh.com as a B2B marketplace platform.

Present in the said activity were the DTI – Supply Chain and Logistics Wholesale and Retail Trade Office led by Undersecretary Mary Jean T. Pacheco, DTI R2 Nueva Vizcaya led by Provincial Director Atty. Michael Paggabao, DA-RFO2 led by AMAD Chief Ms. Maria Rosario Paccarangan; USAID-SPEED led by COP Noel Santiago; NVAT Inc. led by BOD Kurt Russel Alfaro; and Insight SCS led by CEO Pierre Curray.
