The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2, through its Consumer Protection Division (CPD), and various industry associations met via Zoom on 17 January 2024 to discuss plans and collaborations for promoting consumer advocacy and product standards. Specifically, the talks revolved around staging a multi-sector summit as part of the celebration of World Consumer Rights Day on 15 March 2024.

CPD Division Chief Atty. Cyrus I. Restauro delivered the opening remarks, expressing his gratitude and enthusiasm for strengthening partnerships with industry associations. He mentioned the plans with the industry associations, particularly the conduct of a major summit in March that will benefit both business owners and consumers.

Consumer Protection Unit Head, Mr. Serafin C. Umoquit, presented the draft action plan for the upcoming summit. Agreements as to the technical and logistic arrangements and budgetary requirements were made as an offshoot of the meeting. Provincial counterparts also made commitments to invite prospective participants from their respective areas to join in the said event.

Present during the meeting were Ceramic Industry Association officers Ms. Emilie B. Maramag, Mr. June Vasquez from Mariwasa Siam Ceramic Tiles, Inc., Mr.Ramon Lauguico from the HCG Philippines, and all DTI R2 Consumer Protection provincial representatives. ###
