NUEVA VIZCAYA — The Local Government Unit of Dupax del Norte led by Mayor Atty. Timothy Joseph E. Cayton continues to take strides to ensure that consumer welfare remains a priority as the LGU underwent a reorientation session on the roles and responsibilities of the Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC), as well as the Price Act, conducted by the DTI R2 Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Office on 08 April 2024.

In his message, Mayor Cayton represented by Hon. Joey T. Oldico, SB Member and Committee Chair on Trade and Industry reiterated the municipality’s ongoing support for DTI programs and services and emphasized the importance of cooperation in promoting consumer welfare and economic stability.

“As implementors and members of the LPCC, our collective responsibility is not just about mere compliance; it entails proactive engagement and vigilance to address emerging challenges and ensure the accessibility of basic necessities for consumers, as well as fair/ethical business practices,” DTI R2 NV Provincial Director Atty. Michael B. Paggabao, represented by CPD Chief Rowena F. Mayangat, said in her message.

CPD Chief Mayangat was accompanied by Technical Assistant Jonalyn Tan and JBC Laura Rina Oliveros in discussing the roles and responsibilities of the LPCC, as well as the salient features of the Price Act.

After the discussions, the LPCC members outlined their plans and activities such as carrying out a regular joint monitoring activity every quarter and more.

The DTI is scheduled to conduct more reorientation sessions/meetings in the different LGUs as the agency remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering consumers, supporting MSMEs, and promoting a vibrant and equitable marketplace for all.
