The Montalban Creative Industry Summit was conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry – Rizal Provincial Office through Negosyo Center Rodriguez in collaboration and partnership with the Local Government of Rodriguez headed by Mayor Ronnie S. Evangelista through the Montalban Tourism Office, the first in the Province of Rizal was held last 6 December 2023 at Coco Mountain Resort, Rodriguez, Rizal.

The program was graced by the DTI Rizal OIC – Provincial Director Ms. Cleotilde M. Duran, citing how the creativity of Montabeños will turn into income and the potential of Montalban, Rizal in development in terms of its strategic location. And the Municipal Vice Mayor Edgardo Z. Sison to represent the local government unit and ensure the local adoption of the Republic Act 11904 or the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act.

Present in this event are the different resource speakers to share their creative industry talk are USec. Rafaelita M. Aldaba of DTI Competitiveness & Innovation Group through a video presentation, and Mr. Marlo Carag, Intellectual Property Rights Specialist IV of IPO Philippines.

A cultural intermission number performed by the Baybayin Dance Ensemble and samples of sculpture pieces by Mr. Angelico Villanueva, a local artist were also showcased at the event. Both were proud of Montalban, Rizal. The activity also provided the opportunity for the products of our Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) of BJMP to be showcased and sold.

This summit aims to establish the Local Industries Development Council in Rodriguez, Rizal participated by the Local Chief Executive, the Vice Mayor, Municipal Councilors, Municipal Department Heads, Barangay Captains, Sangguniang Kabataan Chairperson, and representatives from different Creative Domains and Sectors in Rodriguez. A collaboration between LGUs, NGAs, academe, and the creative community. ♦
