TANAY, RIZAL — After successfully registering individual farmers to National Coconut Farmers Registry System (NCFRS), the next will be registering them as farmers organization, association, or cooperative. This is to give them legal personalities so they may be able to access government interventions and assistance. Something easier when they are registered and accredited organization.

DTI CFIDP Project Coordinator Jerome M. Montealegre of DTI Rizal introduced Mr. Allan George Gutierrez, an Agriculturist from Philippine Coconut Authority who discussed the requirements for accreditation of farmers organization. As the lead agency for the implementation of Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan, they also had the authority and responsibility to accredited farmers organization who were to comply with the requirements. He encouraged the attendees to work on their requirements as soon as possible.

Also invited was Ms. Charmaine D. Baisa, Labor and Employment Officer III from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Rizal. Her task was to discuss the process and requirements for the registration of workers organization. She pointed out that there is a great chance that farmers are already doing and practicing these procedures as they go along with the management of their organizations, they just need to put it in record and proper safekeeping. She also introduced the programs of the DOLE for the registered workers organization. Hence, her insistence for the coconut farmers to properly organize and register their group.

Twenty-two (22) farmers who attended represented five upland barangays of Tanay namely Tinucan, Mamuyao, Laiban, Sampaloc and Daraitan.

Also present were Ms. Cristine Joy Padayao, Business Counselor of Negosyo Center Sampaloc who assisted the proceedings and Trade and Industry Development Specialist Noralyn SJ. Halimao who oversee the activity as a whole.
