The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the National Food Authority (NFA) have joined forces to assist micro-rice retailers who have been negatively affected by Executive Order 39, Series of 2003.

President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. issued Executive Order 39, S. 2003 mandates price ceilings on RMR at P41.00/kg. and WMR to P45.00/kg. to ensure accessible and affordable rice for consumers. While this initiative benefits the consuming public, it has negatively impacted the livelihood of micro-rice retailers across the region.

To remedy the situation, economic relief subsidies and assistance were given to eligible micro-rice retailers. The subsidy seeks to mitigate the economic hardships faced by these retailers while maintaining the affordability of rice for consumers.

As of today, a total of P5,610,000 has been distributed as an economic relief subsidy, benefiting 374 micro-rice retailers in the region.

The distribution of the economic relief subsidies was led by RD Leah Pulido Ocampo of DTI Region 2; RD Lucia Suyu-Alan of DSWD Region 2; RD Agnes A. De Leon of DILG Region 2; and RED Rosemary G. Aquino of DA Region 2. #
