The DTI-PAB management committee, headed by Director James E. Empeño, Assistant Director Ernani M. Dionisio, together with the bureau’s division chiefs Ms. Ma. Juanita P. Carpio of Management System Accreditation Division (MSAD), Ms. Michelle P. Esteban of the Laboratory Accreditation Division (LAD), and Ms. Japhet T. Celis of the Promotion and Documentation Division (PDD), completed the training on the Phase V: Capability Development Assistance on Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) training, held from August to November 2023 and organized by the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA). The training aims to equip National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Local Government Units (LGUs) with sound regulatory management practices as mandated by Republic Act (RA) No. 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.

DTI-PAB is among the 60 agencies who participated in the ENRICH 2023: Empowering Next-Generation RIA Champions, an event conducted on 05 December 2023 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, that aims to recognize the efforts of capacitated agencies and further institutionalize RIA initiatives.

PAB representatives received the awards on behalf of PAB Management Committee during the recognition of agencies’ participation on RIA training.

The event was supported by the United Kingdom (UK), Korean, and Australian embassies as well as United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Aboitiz Equity Ventures, and SM Investments Corporation.

ARTA’s Director General Atty. Ernesto V. Perez expressed gratitude to the participants and emphasized ARTA’s goal of building a community of regulatory impact assessment practitioners to create a more responsive Philippine regulatory system.

Overall, PAB’s viewed its participation to this training as a great opportunity to be equipped with the appropriate knowledge and skills on conducting Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) in improving its accreditation policies.
