Scents and Memories owner, Ms. Jovita A. Caoile

In 2016, Scents and Memories was born under Ms. Jovita A. Caoile. She is a wife and a mother of two. She worked as a sales representative in a leather company for almost 30 years. Though she was a full-time employee back then, she still had time to run her business with the support and assistance of her life partner.

Until in the year 2020 when she decided to focus on her own business.

With her undeniable commitment to Scents and Memories, she strives hard to sustain her business through direct selling, reselling, distributorship, and trade fair participation (physical or virtual). Through the help of her advanced selling skills and advocacy of health and wellness, Ms. Caoile finds marketing and promoting her products a piece of cake.

Her passion for innovation makes it even easier as she can showcase different product lines to the public. From her flagship product, lemongrass essential oils, she introduced body cooling mist, sleep spray, breather jar, and home fragrances.

However, she was certain that this was not enough to make Scents and Memories escape the challenges and struggles of the business world. Hence in 2018, Ms. Caoile joined One Town One Product Next Generation, where DTI Rizal selected her as one of the recipients. From this program, she decided to focus on the cooling mist, which is famously known as “Aircon in a Bottle” – her trademark was already registered to IPOPHL. With the assistance of the expert-designer consultant, Mr. Rommel Viloria, she was able to develop a new label for her mist, resulting to its premium look.

In that same year,  she was chosen to be one of the delegates of PROPAK Asia Thailand through the endorsement of DTI Rizal, where she discovered abundant entrepreneurial learnings to level up her business.

With her persistence to improve further, she was selected as one of the mentees of Kapatid Mentor ME (KMME), another DTI Rizal key program with the partnership of Go Negosyo, in 2020. Here, she was able to equip herself with different modules focusing on marketing, HR, financial and accounting, and other fundamental entrepreneurial areas. Ms. Caoile successfully finished the program and received as one of the best Business Improvement plan presenters amongst Rizal delegates.

Her entrepreneurial journey does not stop here. Currently, she is an active officer/member of the non-food organization in the province of Rizal known as Rizal Exporters & Manufacturers Association Incorporated (REMAI) which allows her to participate in more bazaars nationwide.

Media exposures with recently aired in Perfect Morning with Cheryl Cosim

These multiple DTI Rizal interventions paved the way for Scents and Memories to supplement its business growth through numerous media exposures with recently aired in Perfect Morning with Cheryl Cosim, market/connection expansion, advanced conference, collaborations, and other opportunity-gaining activities particularly invited as a resource speaker during the Women’s Initiatives for Successful Entrepreneurs webinar.

Just like the other micro businesses, Scents and Memories was greatly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. With Ms. Caoile’s openness and flexibility, she was able to sustain her enterprise. She and her husband familiarize themselves with various digital selling platforms such as Facebook Marketplace, Shopee, and Lazada. They attended different webinars organized by DTI Rizal and other agencies to ascertain how to manage it efficiently.

To assist Rizalenyo MSEs during these challenging times, DTI Rizal launched a Tindahang Rizalenyo online store (www.tindahangrizalenyo.com) where Rizal-based producers/manufacturers are welcome to enroll their products including Scents and Memories which was one of the pilot merchants.

Up now, Ms. Caoile is still on her feet, sustaining Scents and Memories. She is, in fact, relaunched her “Aircon In a Bottle” to “AIB.” She is also continuously conducting R&D to line up additional wellness product lines. ♦
